Manufactured in Canada, the original Alpha Comp Hoody uses a combination of Gore Tex on the shoulders, hood, arms, and seat with a Durastretch Tweave softshell body. This softshell material is tougher and more wind resistant than the inferior fabric used on the later Chinese-made jackets. The concept is brilliant - breathability where you need it in the torso and rain protection where you need it on the shoulders and hood. This jacket comes with excellent karma - it has summited Mount Rainier, climbed WI-5 water ice in Colorado, and has tons of useful life left.
