Castelli Alpha Winter Jacket Medium Excellent

  
This is the original version of the Castelli Alpha Jacket. This is a full on winter jacket, with an outer shell made completely of Gore Windstopper fabric. The key to staying warm on a bike in winter is having a garment that is windproof, and Windstopper fabric is by far the best in this area.

Look carefully at the alternatives, you'll see back and underarm panels of Roubaix or some other material and claims about breathability but that is really because Windstopper is expensive! Castelli and the Alpha in particular offer a very tailored fit. I'm 150 pounds, 36 chest, and this fits with one base layer, no more. Later versions of this jacket have additional waterproofing, but the windproofness is the same (I have both).
